x2019 Yamaha F60JB 60 HP Jet Drive Outboard Motor – 25" Shaft for Shallow Water & Jet Propulsion Performance
The 2019 Yamaha F60JB is a purpose-built 60 HP jet drive outboard that produces approximately 40 HP at the pump, making it the perfect choice for boaters who frequently operate in extremely shallow water, rocky rivers, flats, or areas where traditional propellers risk damage. Based on Yamaha’s proven 996cc SOHC inline-4 four-stroke engine with Electronic Fuel Injection (EFI), it delivers smooth, reliable power, quick acceleration, and excellent fuel efficiency on regular unleaded (87+ octane).
Unlike propeller-driven outboards, the F60JB uses a high-volume jet pump system with no exposed propeller — dramatically reducing the risk of striking rocks, stumps, or debris while maintaining strong thrust in skinny water. The compact, lightweight design (just 257 lbs dry with the 25" extra-long shaft) combined with remote mechanical controls, electric start, and power trim & tilt makes it easy to install and operate on skiffs, jon boats, flats boats, and other shallow-draft vessels.
Key engineering highlights include a single throttle valve, long-track intake for strong low- and mid-range torque, and Yamaha’s advanced corrosion protection package. The 17-amp alternator keeps electronics charged, while the direct-drive jet system provides responsive handling and maneuverability. Real-world users praise its quiet operation, easy maintenance (including a freshwater flush port), and durability in harsh environments.
This 2019 F60JB model (remote mechanical, 25" shaft) is ideal for repowering older jet boats or outfitting new shallow-water rigs. Backed by Yamaha’s reputation for long-term reliability and strong resale value, it offers boaters peace of mind whether fishing remote flats, navigating rivers, or exploring coastal backwaters.
